Wednesday 15 July 2026 Robotics and AI Workshop: Our Experience We recently had the opportunity to take part in a Robotics and AI Workshop, where we explored how robots work and how artificial intelligence is used in real-life situations. It was a fun and interactive experience that helped us learn new skills and challenged us to think creatively.

Wednesday 15 July 2026 Year 10 Citizenship Campaigns Students have selected to campaign on three topical issues as part of their GCSE course. The issues are: asylum seeker right to work; the government's policy on social media use for under 16s, and reducing hate and division within communities.

Wednesday 15 July 2026 Politics, plastics and a talking bottle: Bringing parliament into the classroom In my past life I was a Sociologist researching plastic waste. As a result, I was invited to the launch of the Sustainable Plastics All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) at Westminster.

Monday 16 March 2026 Year 10 Practice Interviews Year 10 students impressed volunteers during 2 days of online mock interviews. All Year 10 students were allocated a 15-minute interview slot with a volunteer and during their interviews they were asked a series of real-life interview questions.

Monday 16 March 2026 Royal School of Needlework workshops at CFGS The Royal School of Needlework hosted a series of workshops at CFGS this term in which pupils from Years 7–12 collaborated to create a large textile artwork based on a map of East London. Students thoroughly enjoyed learning new stitches, exploring their section of the map and deciding how to represent it creatively with the skills they were learning. The workshops also gave pupils the opportunity to socialise and work alongside students from other year groups, and the results so far are excellent! We look forward to continuing the project until the entire map is complete.

Monday 16 March 2026 Volleyball, Ramadan and International Women’s Day: Our Students on BBC London This month marks a particularly proud moment for the volleyball community at Central Foundation Girls’ School, as some of our students were featured on BBC London News as part of a segment exploring how young athletes observe Ramadan while remaining active in sport.

Monday 16 March 2026 Student Council Visits UNICEF HQ for a Day of Global Learning Thirty enthusiastic Year 7 and 8 Student Council representatives were treated to an unforgettable afternoon at UNICEF’s headquarters, where they joined students from schools across London to explore the importance of children’s rights around the world.

Monday 9 March 2026 Year 7 Explore Creativity and Voice at the Young V&A Year 7 students enjoyed an inspiring and energetic day at the Young V&A, where they explored how art can communicate identity, emotion and powerful messages about the world.

Thursday 5 March 2026 Year 7 Money Matters Workshop Year 7 students participated in a Money Matters workshop, giving them an opportunity to learn about finance and budgeting through real life examples. The sessions were delivered by volunteers and members of The Switch, a local charity.

Monday 2 February 2026 Volleyball match played by our Year 7 teams competing against Bacon’s College Their first volleyball match was not only a success when it came to beating Bacon’s College every match but also provided these girls with a new idea of teamwork, bonding and boosted their confidence, starting their journey with the CFGS volleyball team off extremely well!!

Friday 23 January 2026 Year 10 STEM Day at Williams Racing: Inspiring Future Innovators Our Year 10 students recently had the exciting opportunity to attend a STEM Day at the Williams Racing Formula 1 headquarters, and it was an incredibly inspiring experience for everyone involved.

Monday 24 November 2025 Snap Teen Summit 2025 Towards the end of the first half term, Y12 Media and Law Students as well as Y10 Media students took part in the Snap Teen Summit 2025 which was held in their office, located in 50 Cowcross St, London. The summit was split into 3 parts, each engaging and allowing students to ask questions to working professionals in a range of diverse positions. The tasks were informative, fun and created a communal environment for students to network and learn more about the tech world - enhancing innovation and curiosity of students.

Thursday 10 July 2025 Student Achievement Award Ceremony On 10th July, we celebrated student success at our annual Achievement Awards Ceremony. Students were chosen by their teachers, Heads of Faculty, Heads of Department, Heads of Year or by specialist staff in recognition of their academic endeavours, contributions to the school community and personal achievement in the face of challenging circumstances.

Wednesday 25 June 2025 Empowering Voices Through Digital Storytelling As part of our ongoing collaboration with Goldsmiths University’s Critical Connections—a multilingual digital storytelling project empowering young people across primary and secondary schools to share stories from around the world—the girls from our Bangla Club have produced a compelling digital story that was shortlisted for showcasing at the Professor Stuart Hall Building at Goldsmiths on 13th June 2025.

Wednesday 14 May 2025 Empowering Future Innovators: Year 8s Take a Closer Look at AI On 25th April, a group of our Year 8 Computer Science students participated in an engaging workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI). Avril Calder, one of our CFSL Trustees, invited two very knowledgeable presenters to CFGS – Mike Cheney who leads the Technical Account Manager Team at Multiverse, a tech start-up with links to leading businesses that offer apprenticeships in tech roles and Ewelina Lacey, a Trustee of CFSL and the Regional Director for Europe at the Institute for Study Abroad.

Thursday 24 April 2025 Empowered to Lead: Students Meet MP Uma Kumaran MP for Stratford and Bow, Uma Kumaran, recently visited CFGS to meet with a group of KS3 Social Studies students and Year 10 and 12 Citizenship and Politics students. Year 7 and 8 students spoke directly to Uma about their belief that all children have the right to an education, even in communities affected by natural disasters or conflict.

Tuesday 1 April 2025 International Women's Day: A Visit from the Met Police CFGS welcomed the Met Police to celebrate International Women's Day on 12th March this year. Students were introduced to the many job roles and careers that women hold at the Met Police and learned about the career journeys and experiences of ten different female officers as part of a carousel of talks.

Wednesday 26 March 2025 LGBTQ+ Poetry Event This LGBTQ+ History Month, our staff and students came together to celebrate the power of poetry! They each selected a meaningful poem to read aloud at our special Poetry Event, sharing words that inspire, empower and reflect the diverse voices of the LGBTQ+ community.

Thursday 21 November 2024 Empowering Voices: Our First Exchange with the Rotary Club of Kinoni Our Female Lead Ambassadors, students from Years 10 to 13, have started an inspiring exchange programme with students from Uganda’s Rotary Club of Kinoni. The session featured music and dance performances from Ugandan students and a video-recorded piece from our students. Assistant Headteacher, Mr Catherine led a discussion on Violence Against Women, followed by a student exchange on female empowerment, where both groups explored challenges and solutions in their respective countries.

Friday 15 November 2024 The Rising Lioness: In search of Beauty by CSC On the 15th of November, some parents and children (27 people) from Bangla Club and Year 10 Bangla classes travelled to Rich Mix cinema hall despite it being so dark to watch a Bangla drama called "A Rising Lioness: In Search of Beauty", a powerful dance drama directed and choreographed by Adity Roy, founder of Adity Dance CIC, a UK-registered organisation which challenges conventional notions of beauty.
