CFGS6 Extracurricular Activities
Central Plus
Our Central Plus programme is unique, encompassing all aspects of learning outside the classroom. It aims to develop students’ cultural capital and offer opportunities they might not otherwise encounter. The sessions are crafted to instill a sense of enjoyment and curiosity about themselves and the world around them.
Developed and evaluated by the school’s Community Manager in collaboration with a student panel, the programme is designed to challenge CFGS6 students and provide them with an extended skill set and access to various enrichment schemes.

Activities range from innovative sports such as rock climbing, horse riding, ice skating, cinema trips, high ropes, debating, educational visits and accredited courses including First Aid, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh.
Central+ Ambassadors Programme
Each year, we offer a unique opportunity for two to four Year 12 students to become Central+ Junior Assistants. They work alongside the Community Manager and the school to support and organise the Central+ Programme for Key Stage 3 and 4 students. This role also includes accompanying and supervising trips and sessions, among other responsibilities.

Leadership Programmes
There are numerous leadership opportunities available to all students in CFGS6. These include:
- The Senior and Junior Prefect Team
- Subject Ambassadors Catalyst Programme
- Reading Buddies Programme
- Central+ Junior Assistants
- The Community Action Group

Why should I get involved?
- Developing new skills such as leadership, communication, time management, and interpersonal skills
- Being involved in new experiences
- Giving back to your school
- Meeting new people in the Sixth Form and other year groups
- Supporting younger students in their learning and social development
- Stretching and challenging yourself
- Gaining important evidence for UCAS and other Post-18 applications
We encourage students to become community leaders through raising awareness for charities as well as becoming Subject Mentors to support departments and inspire other students. Students are also encouraged to show willingness to participate in a variety of communities and social settings including volunteering.
Students can volunteer to work with local Primary Schools as part of the Reading Buddies Programme and become an in-school Reading Mentor. Students can also take part in volunteer programmes across the school such as working with Years 7-10 students in the Central Plus offer and in the Learning Lounge.
