Tuesday 9 December 2025 A Visit to Wadham College, Oxford On 2nd December, I had the pleasure of taking a group of some of our brightest year 12 students for an Access Day at Wadham College, Oxford. The college was founded by Dorothy Wadham in 1610 with high ideals: to make the pursuit of learning available to ‘the poor and needy’. Wadham is one of the largest colleges in Oxford with 250 graduate students and 450 undergraduates. The College has a long list of notable alumni including Sir Christopher Wren (architect, mathematician, physicist), Monica Ali (author of Brick Lane) and Rosamund Pike (actor & producer).

Tuesday 25 November 2025 The Elephant Group Launch Year 12 students attended the launch of The Elephant Group at Senate Library on 25th November. Students are selected to be part of 'The CFGS6 Herd' based on their GCSE outcomes and are the Top 30 students in Year 12.

Thursday 20 November 2025 A Visit from The Apprentice On 5th November, CFGS6 students welcomed sixth formers from Central Foundation Boys’ School to participate in an event organised by Avril Calder, who is a Trustee of Central Foundation Schools London.

Tuesday 23 September 2025 Bridging the Gap: Preparing for Post-16 Success The session gave students a realistic insight into the increased demands of post-16 education and introduced them to the skills needed to succeed. Through interactive activities, they explored techniques for self-directed study, critical thinking, time management and independent learning – all essential for making a smooth transition into sixth form and beyond.

Thursday 4 September 2025 Exams Mastery Session: Starting Year 13 with Revision Strategies The session was about how to revise effectively, manage time well, and avoid distractions. This is especially important for us in Year 13 as we prepare for our exams, so it was very useful. We were given practical scenarios that helped us put revision techniques into practice.

Thursday 3 April 2025 Ever wondered what it’s like to stitch up a wound? Yesterday, our aspiring medics had the incredible opportunity to take part in Suture the Future, a hands-on workshop where they learned essential suturing techniques. Led by medical students from UCL, the session provided practical skills alongside valuable advice on the medical school application process.

Thursday 13 March 2025 From Classroom to Commons: My Eye-Opening Visit to Parliament On the 7th of March, I had the incredible opportunity to visit Parliament for an in-depth tour, gaining historical context and insight into the traditions that have shaped British democracy. This experience directly linked to my A-Level Politics studies, providing real-world examples of the theories and institutions we explore in class.

Monday 10 February 2025 Inspiring Futures: Baroness Longfield CBE visits CFGS On 28th January at Central Foundation Girls’ School (CFGS), Baroness Longfield CBE shared an insightful outlook on future career choices and the importance of children’s wellbeing. She led students through a journey of her life during university, then her involvement in the Sure Start programme to her current role as Executive Chair of the Centre for Young Lives. Her talk has influenced and motivated many Year 12 students who are currently thinking about their career options.

Thursday 30 January 2025 Law in Practice: A Magistrate's Visit to Our Classroom Our Year 12 Law students had the opportunity to learn about ‘a day in the life’ of a magistrate and try their hand imposing a just sentence on a defendant.

Wednesday 29 January 2025 Debate Mate at Oxford: A Unique Learning Experience I had the incredible opportunity to visit Christ Church, Oxford at University of Oxford as part of a Debate Mate event. Out of numerous applications, I was fortunate to be selected, and I’m truly grateful for this experience.

Monday 4 November 2024 CFGS6 Students Shine at Snap HQ, Winning AR Hackathon with Social Awareness Lens On Monday 1st October, 10 students from CFGS6 attended an exclusive AR Hackathon at Snap HQ in Farringdon via an opportunity from CFGS6’s partnership with ZeroGravity.

Tuesday 15 October 2024 My Year 12 Journey at CFGS6: Embracing Opportunities and Aspiring for Success So far, the highlight of my Year 12 experience has been the wide range of opportunities available. I’ve had the chance to join fantastic programmes like The Elephant Group, In2MedSchool, The King's Factor programme, and many more to come. What really stands out at CFGS6 is the incredible support we receive alongside these opportunities.

Thursday 12 September 2024 From HQ Office to Aisle: Our Week with Tesco From the 8th to the 12th of July 2024, we, a group of four sixth-form students — Fariha Ahmed (13DNL), Hannah Begum (12SQN), Musammed Samia Ahmed (12LHR), and Anisa Begum (12HTA) — had the fantastic opportunity to take part in a pilot work experience programme at Tesco. This five-day experience was split between three days at Tesco's head office in Welwyn Garden City and two days in one of their superstores in East London.

Monday 15 July 2024 Sabina's Diary: My Exeter University Summer Academy Experience The first day at Exeter was quite eventful. It started off a bit rough since I missed my train, but I eventually made my way to Exeter and met with the others. We began with lunch, sorted into groups, and our student ambassador, Emily, gave us a tour of the beautiful, green, but rather hilly campus. My group members were incredibly friendly, and we all got along almost immediately. After the tour, we went to our rooms to change for sports. I chose badminton, which was quite fun and helped me make a few friends. After badminton, we headed to the beach where we had dinner.

Thursday 4 July 2024 LSBU Nursing and Midwifery Open Day We attended an open day event at London South Bank University for nursing and midwifery. We learned about various roles, including adult nursing, children's nursing, mental health nursing, and midwifery. In the first session on children's nursing, we were split into two groups. One group performed respiratory checks and BPM check ups, while the other participated in a handwashing challenge. We applied a special lotion on our hands, washed it off, and used a machine to check for any missed spots under a light. The second group used a machine to check each other's BPM and examined a simulation doll's pulse and heartbeat.

Tuesday 2 July 2024 Digital Media at London Metropolitan University The Faculty of Computing and Digital Media at London Metropolitan University invited a group of Year 12 CFGS6 and prospective CFGS6 students to experience the life of an undergraduate student. Accompanied by CFGS’s Head of Media Studies, Mr L. Williams, the nine students visited the Holloway Road campus on 27th June.

Wednesday 27 March 2024 Exploring Tech at Palantir: A Day of Insight and Inspiration On Wednesday 21 February, I went on a tech trip to visit Palantir. Palantir is a software company that specialises in data. As a computer science student, I feel like I have benefitted from the experience of visiting a tech company as well as meeting new people from other schools.

Friday 14 July 2023 LSELU Street Law Programme @ CFGS6 20 inspiring law students took part in the extra curricular offer of LSELU Street Law Programme after school over three weeks. Throughout the programme, students studies a variety of items such as a foundation to understanding jurisprudence in the UK, different types of statutory interpretations as well as explaining what studying Law at university could look like and the different paths you could take following your studies.

Friday 14 July 2023 theSwitch Assessment Centre Year 12 took part in an Assessment Centre facilitated by theSwitch on Friday 14th July. Students were assessed on their verbal and non verbal communication skills the moment they entered the venue so that they obtained a realistic experience that mirrored the industry.
