CFGS6 Students Say
The bursary eased my commuting costs to university and placements, allowing me to stay organised and focused in my studies. It enabled me to buy essential study materials like textbooks and stationery, helping me engage fully with my course and build confidence in my abilities. Having the right resources made it easier to participate in lectures and apply what I learned in practice. The bursary also gave me the time and financial freedom to join extracurricular activities that deepened my understanding of healthcare. It allowed me to take part in a mentoring programme and later become a mentor myself, supporting junior student midwives with their studies and wellbeing. Ramla
The Trustees’ Bursary has been extremely beneficial throughout my Chemistry degree. It provided me with a sense of independence, especially as living costs and rent increased during my studies. Thanks to the bursary, I was able to manage my expenses for food, rent, and travel without relying on my parents, which lifted a great deal of financial pressure. It also allowed me to purchase essential items such as books, protective lab equipment, and stationery, as well as save money for future goals, giving me a sense of financial security. The bursary made it easier to visit home occasionally and take part in university life by attending society events and social activities, which often required small contributions. Overall, the Trustees’ Bursary was an invaluable source of support that helped me focus on my academic and personal development while studying away from home. CFGS6 Student
The Trustee Bursary had a profound impact on my academic and personal journey, providing £3,000 per year over three years to support me throughout university. This funding helped me purchase essential textbooks for key modules, such as Functional Anatomy, and contributed towards travel and living expenses, reducing the need for additional borrowing. The financial stability it provided allowed me to focus fully on my studies and maintain my wellbeing during challenging times, including personal loss. With the support of the bursary, I was able to graduate with a First Class Honours degree in Biomedical Sciences, achieving 85% in my dissertation on autoimmune hepatitis in paediatrics. This foundation has enabled me to progress into my current role as a Clinic Manager and given me the confidence to continue pursuing my ambitions within the healthcare and biomedical fields. Naima
The Trustee’s Bursary had a significant impact on my university experience, supporting me throughout my LLB Law degree at City, University of London, where I graduated with first-class honours. The bursary enabled me to purchase a new laptop, which became an essential tool for taking notes, completing coursework, accessing online lectures and legal databases, and staying organised. It also helped cover travel costs, making it easier to attend lectures, seminars, and society events without financial stress. Additionally, the bursary allowed me to buy revision books, academic materials, and access online resources such as The Commercial Academy, which enhanced my understanding of core legal subjects and helped me develop commercial awareness. This financial support meant I could focus fully on my studies, avoid taking on extra work during busy periods, and gain the confidence to pursue career opportunities. The bursary played a key role in preparing me for the next steps in my career, including securing practical experience toward qualifying as a solicitor. Nadirah
