A Milestone Moment for Central Foundation Girls’ School

On 12th March, we were honoured to welcome the Lady Mayor of London, Dame Susan Langley DBE, to unveil the foundation stone for our new Sixth Form expansion, a project that will enhance specialist facilities, create six new classrooms and transform our outdoor and rooftop spaces.
The event aligned beautifully with International Women’s Day and this year’s theme, “Give to Gain”, a reminder of the collective responsibility we share in investing in girls and young women so they can uplift their communities in return.
The Lady Mayor reflected on the school’s remarkable legacy: “For almost 300 years, Central Foundation Girls’ School has been a beacon for opportunity, aspiration, and learning… a renewed commitment to the bright futures of young women across Tower Hamlets.”
During the event commemorating International Women’s Day, Headteacher Ms Prince shared inspiring words with some of our current CFGS6 students about the significance of this expansion and its alignment with our mission to empower future generations. Our CFGS6 Head Girls, Arnisa and Aisha of 13RCE, spoke about their plans and hopes for the future.
With construction completing this summer and an official opening planned for September, just in time for our 300th anniversary, this marks an exciting new chapter for our school community.
