A Visit from The Apprentice
On 5th November, CFGS6 students welcomed sixth formers from Central Foundation Boys’ School to participate in an event organised by Avril Calder, who is a Trustee of Central Foundation Schools London.
Students from both schools were treated to a motivational talk by Frederick Afrifa, who was a contestant on a recent series of The Apprentice. He inspired the students with his personal story - starting from very humble beginnings to overcome adversity and multiple setbacks to succeed in life. A true lesson in the not letting failure stop you from being the best you can be!
One of our Year 13 students wrote an article about his visit:
Last week Yr12 and 13 students had the opportunity to meet Frederick Afrifa from The Apprentice when he came to our school to share his success story, and it was a truly inspiring talk. He taught us that you can turn your hobbies into success if you keep trying and never give up, even when you fail multiple times.
Frederick spoke about moving from Italy to the UK at the age of 12, which showed us how challenging it must have been for him to adapt to a completely different environment. Despite those difficulties, he worked hard and stayed determined, which helped him become the successful person he is today. He also shared how he used to be quite introverted, but through speaking in schools and telling his story, he has grown in confidence and now uses his voice to motivate others to believe in themselves.
His story wasn’t about overnight success but the importance of resilience and perseverance. His dreams of representing his country at the Olympics were scuppered by the 2020 pandemic but rather than just give up he decided to pivot and develop himself as a motivational speaker.
