Creative Careers Takeover Day at The Courtauld Gallery
By Mrs Jordan
Our Year 12 Art & Design students spent the day ‘taking over’ the Courtauld Gallery in Somerset House. After spending time exploring the galleries collection, they worked together with gallery curators to analyse a series of well-known images such as Édouard Manet’s A Bar at the Folies-Bergère and Paul Cezanne’s The Card Players. Through both visual communication and historical research, our students studied a specific image and prepared a talk about their learning. They then presented their research to the curators, students from another school and the general public(!) in front of the images in the gallery. Our students did a fantastic job and should be extremely proud of their confidence, skills in research and brilliant presentations.
