Empowering Voices: Our First Exchange with the Rotary Club of Kinoni
Exciting International Collaboration organised by, Teacher of French & International Links Co-ordinator, Mr Darmon-Shimamori.
Our Female Lead Ambassadors, students from Years 10 to 13, have started an inspiring exchange programme with students from Uganda’s Rotary Club of Kinoni. The session featured music and dance performances from Ugandan students and a video-recorded piece from our students. Assistant Headteacher, Mr Catherine led a discussion on Violence Against Women, followed by a student exchange on female empowerment, where both groups explored challenges and solutions in their respective countries.
One of our students, Tahera (Year, 13), shared,
'Female empowerment is equally important in both countries," highlighting the universal struggles women face. Another participant reflected, "It is still happening today, and it affects many people around the world every day.'
This session also inspired our students to take action:
"I have spoken out about how damaging this issue is and how it can lead to trauma for women. This session has raised awareness and gave me a platform to speak about it," said one student, in year 10.
This is just the first of many sessions we will hold throughout the year to empower and inspire young leaders worldwide.
