Kings College London MedSoc Event: A Glimpse into Medical Careers
On Tuesday, 26th June, students from CFGS6 attended the Kings College London Celebratory MedSoc End of Year event at their Guy's London Bridge Campus. This event provided our students with invaluable hands-on experience and insights into the medical field.
The day was filled with engaging workshops and presentations, offering our students unique opportunities to practice taking blood samples, suturing, and performing CPR. These practical sessions are crucial for students with a keen interest in medicine, as they provide a realistic preview of medical procedures and help build essential skills.
Informative presentations from the widening participation leads and student ambassadors covered important topics such as student finance, bursaries, and the significance of Medical Ethics, including its four fundamental pillars. Current medical students also shared their journeys into medical school, offering inspiration and guidance to our aspiring doctors.
I think that the KCL trip was really helpful because we got to develop clinical skills, such as suturing, bloodwork and CPR. It also helped to see the other side of medicine which was the medical ethics workshop and how to deal with ethics in a professional manner. - Wahida, Year 12 Student
The event concluded with a comprehensive campus tour, where students explored the library, lecture theatres, and the impressive clinical practice rooms. Seeing these facilities first-hand gives our students a better understanding of the environment and resources available at a prestigious institution like Kings College London.

We ensure providing vast opportunities at CFGS6 for students interested in the medical field, demonstrating our commitment to providing experiences that enrich their education and prepare them for future careers.
