The Elephant Group Launch

Year 12 students attended the launch of The Elephant Group at Senate Library on 25th November. Students are selected to be part of 'The CFGS6 Herd' based on their GCSE outcomes and are the Top 30 students in Year 12.

The programme’s aim is to support students in securing a place in the top 1/3 of Universities across the UK and provides students with an excellent super curricular programme, exclusive insight events and opportunities from global leading institutions.

Maryam M in 12SEM shares her experience below:

I had the opportunity to attend the The Elephant Group Launch event for Year 12 students in the Senate Library UCL!

The event offered a valuable chance to network and build meaningful connections, allowing us to ask questions and learn directly from students to gain insights into university experiences, different career paths and tips about university that they had wished they had known sooner.

It was especially insightful to hear what university life can look like from a range of pupils and professionals from universities such as SOAS University of London, King's College London, University of Sheffield, University of Exeter and many more.

The advice I thought was useful was how important it is to start preparing my personal statement early, reflect on real experiences, super curriculars and clearly show your passion for your subject. Also, the importance of taking initiative early, summer schools, residentials and insights like today make a difference to what career we choose to pursue, and making an effort will pay off in the end.

Overall, the event made me more confident in my knowledge of university pathways. At this stage in my career, I think it's essential to know the possibilities for your future education, so I want to thank the Elephant Access Group for the chance to attend.
