The Rising Lioness: In search of Beauty by CSC
On the 15th of November, some parents and children (27 people) from Bangla Club and Year 10 Bangla classes travelled to Rich Mix cinema hall despite it being so dark to watch a Bangla drama called "A Rising Lioness: In Search of Beauty", a powerful dance drama directed and choreographed by Adity Roy, founder of Adity Dance CIC, a UK-registered organisation which challenges conventional notions of beauty. Inspired by the extraordinary life of Jannatul Ferdous Ivy—a burn survivor, writer, filmmaker, and human rights activist who had burnt 60% of her body during an accident. She was also named in the BBC’s list of the top 100 most inspiring women in 2023.
I really enjoyed the performance. It was really nice and colourful and vibrant. The show was quite dramatic, I got a bit scared when she screamed in front of the mirror. I didn’t understand much but I loved it. One of the best nights ever! - Fariha Chowdhury, 7A

The girls got an opportunity to meet her in person and was inspired by her struggles and life story. Ivy also presented the girls with some copies of her books.
