My Experience at Bloomberg: A Glimpse Behind the Scenes of Finance, Media & Tech.
After taking a short break from posting, I’m excited to share one of the most impactful experiences I’ve had so far – my time at Bloomberg earlier this year.
As part of their Build Your Future programme, I spent three incredible days at Bloomberg’s London office. It was my first time working in a professional office environment, and let’s just say – the bar has now been set very high.
From the start, we were thrown into an exciting mix of learning and doing. We explored how to use the Bloomberg Terminal to track financial trends and worked on presentations around risk and investment. Even though the placement was just three days, Bloomberg made sure every hour was purposeful – and yes, the snack selection definitely deserves a mention!

One of the highlights for me was shadowing staff across different departments – from analysts to the newsroom – and seeing how much collaboration goes into every area of the business. I was particularly struck by how open and willing everyone was to share insights into their work.
We even got involved with Bloomberg Philanthropies, spending time making toys for dogs at local shelters – something I didn’t expect to be so memorable, but it really was.
Another big moment was working in teams to develop and pitch our own investment strategies to a panel of Bloomberg mentors. It pushed us out of our comfort zones and taught us a lot about teamwork, communication, and thinking under pressure. Between activities, we made the most of our time networking – exchanging LinkedIn with professionals from analytics, data, and even the newsroom.

One detail that’s stayed with me? The flower-shaped ceiling panels in the office. They weren’t just decorative – they’re designed to reduce noise and help people work together more effectively. It’s that level of thoughtful design and care for people that really summed up the whole atmosphere at Bloomberg.
This experience gave me a new perspective on what kind of environment I’d love to work in and left a lasting impression I’ll carry forward in my journey.
Huge thanks to Eleanor Whittaker, Djamila Billingsby and Nutana Tamatam for making us feel so welcome and ensuring the experience was truly unforgettable.
