The journey to Aspire Believe Achieve

At CFGS6, we believe that every young woman has the potential to achieve her aspirations. We do not place limits on ambition. Instead, we work alongside our students to break down barriers, open doors and provide the right support at the right time.

One of the ways we do this is through our Aspire, Believe and Achieve cohorts. Using academic progress data alongside our knowledge of each individual student, we identify young women who would benefit from additional challenge, guidance or targeted support to help them reach their full potential.

Students within these cohorts benefit from a personalised programme of departmental, pastoral and external support, which may include academic mentoring, targeted intervention, study-skills development, enrichment opportunities and access to specialist external organisations.

Whether a student is working to secure a pass, striving for the highest grades or preparing for a competitive university, course or apprenticeship, our ambition remains the same: to ensure that her starting point never determines her destination.

At CFGS6, we Aspire. We Believe. We Achieve.

Aspire Conference 1

Aspire Conference Supporting Our Increase Cohort at CFGS6

At CFGS6, we want every young woman to recognise her potential and feel confident about taking the next steps towards it. Our Aspire cohort support brings together high expectations, practical academic guidance and encouragement to help students work towards the highest grades.

We select students for the Aspire cohort using their end-of-Year-12 attainment data, identifying those with the potential to strengthen their performance further as they enter their final year. This allows us to offer focused support early, helping students understand how to turn promising achievement into exceptional outcomes.

An ambitious start to Year 13

Just one and a half weeks into Year 13, every student in the Aspire cohort attended our conference, From Good to Exceptional: The Push to A*/Distinction*. It was an opportunity to celebrate their achievements, reflect on their progress and explore what it takes to reach the top grades. Tea, coffee and pastries made the occasion all the better!

The conference helped students understand the qualities of excellent work, including depth of analysis, precise use of evidence, confident arguments and thoughtful evaluation. Students explored how to develop these skills through purposeful revision, responding carefully to teacher feedback and practising examination techniques.

The emphasis was on actions students can take: redrafting an answer, mastering a challenging concept, practising under timed conditions or reading beyond the textbook to deepen their understanding and exploring super curricular content.

Building confidence alongside academic skills

Success in Year 13 also requires perseverance and resilience. Students considered how to respond when motivation drops, learn from disappointing results and maintain consistent study habits.

They reflected on their academic strengths and the skills they had improved since Year 12, before identifying achievable targets. This encouraged them to build confidence through evidence of their own progress and take responsibility for their next steps.

The conference also highlighted the importance of seeking support from teachers, using available subject resources and making revision manageable, while allowing time to get outside and look after their wellbeing.

Our values in action

We Transform students’ expectations of what they can achieve by helping them understand the steps towards ambitious outcomes. We Challenge them to deepen their thinking, act on feedback and work with greater independence.

We Empower students with practical strategies they can apply across their subjects and carry into higher education or employment. We Value each young woman by recognising her achievements and providing encouragement alongside clear, purposeful guidance.

For prospective parents, the Aspire cohort offers an example of how we use our knowledge of students to shape the support we provide. We identify potential, respond early and help our young women develop the habits and confidence to pursue their ambitions.

That is what it means to Aspire. Believe. Achieve. at CFGS6.
